‘Stretch’ and ‘Translate’: Gramscian Lineages, Fanonist Convergences in the (Post)Colony

Abstract This paper establishes a theoretical linkage between Antonio Gramsci and Frantz Fanon. Gramsci’s critical-historicist method its relationship to humanism, his integral understanding of Marxism, emphasis on the moment political practice resonate with Fanon’s articulation subjective political-economic aspects colonial question, activistic materialism, dialectically humanist universalism forged through anti-colonial struggle. Establishing this presupposes engaging distinct currents postcolonial Gramscianism in relation each other philological turn scholarship. In turn, Gramsci–Fanon convergence helps elucidate specificities (post-)colonial contexts without elevating these into civilisational-ontological difference.
